About Dr. Harold Bergman
Dr. Harold Bergman is a pioneering figure in dental implantology, with a career spanning over 50 years as a clinician, educator, and product designer. He holds a DDS, a Diploma in Oral Surgery & Anaesthesia, and an MScD in Pathology.
Dr. Bergman has been at the forefront of the field since 1973, a time when stainless steel was the metal of choice and implant dentistry was considered experimental. He has lived through the industry's entire evolution, from its nascent days to the introduction of titanium that brought it mainstream credibility.
With licensing bodies now (rightfully) mandating proof of competency, comprehensive medical histories, flawless informed consent, and meticulous documentation, Dr. Bergman recognized a critical gap between the new standard of care and the tools available to clinicians.
Throughout his career, Dr. Bergman’s focus has been on innovation and simplification. As a surgeon, he introduced the “extraction site,” “cookie cutter,” and other “limited exposure” surgical techniques designed to make implant surgery easier, quicker, and less traumatic for the patient. As an innovator, he designed and manufactured multiple implant systems, including the Anchor, Simpler, SIMPLI, and the K9 dental implant system for dogs, as well as numerous generic, implant-related items like the Shadow Metal Locator and implant drill sharpeners.
His commitment to the field extends deep into education. Dr. Bergman has trained thousands of dentists, veterinary dentists, and denturists in implant procedures. He has authored over 100 scientific and technical publications and produced 29 online training courses for dental and veterinary professionals.
